October is the harbinger of change. Indian Summer sets in briefly with warm days and crisp nights. Trees put on their color extravaganza, an annual arboreal finale, as we begin to concentrate on creature comforts in preparation for the colder days ahead. We celebrate Columbus Day and Halloween, perhaps while curled up by a crackling fire; which is an excellent setting for working on a few crossword puzzles.
